D.C.M.T. LIVE

First Friday January

Marshall J. Gardner Center For The Arts

Join us for live Improvisational music, featuring bells, drums, flutes, didgeridoo, and other exotic instruments, blended with cutting-edge digital sound processing.

Digitally Correct Meta-Troubadours was founded in 1994 as a vehicle for improvised music. Listen for spontaneous acts of creativity …and whatever else your mind imagines.

Musicians:

Mike Becker: Mike has a Master’s Degree in Musicology, and is a member of the faculty at Vandercook College of Music, where he teaches courses in World Music and Music History. He has performed as a recorder soloist in the Chicago area. Mike collects and performs on various ethnic flutes as well as an array of other instruments.

David Hunter: David earned his PhD in Music Composition and Ethnomusicology from the University of Chicago in 2009. His pieces have been performed by Friends of the Gamelan and the Contemporary Chamber Players. He is now a recording artist of acoustic and electronic music, coupled with many non-Western instruments. David founded DCMT with Greg O’Drobinak in 1994.

Greg O’Drobinak: Greg employs his lifelong experience as an engineer to put the digital in DCMT via specific electronic techniques. His desire to realize new sounds that challenge the ‘normal’ led to his creation of unique instruments. Greg’s palette of expression includes really any device; such that the visceral and ambient qualities of performance are enhanced.
